PROMOTING A SUPERIOR STANDARD OF PIPING FOR PLAYERS IN THE UNITED STATES.

To ensure competitiveness in the international arena, piping standards were set at the highest level accepted in Scotland, and Senior Members of The Piobaireachd Society's Panel of Judges were invited to adjudicate the Open Competition.

In 1993, the USPF established a second competition for U.S. Grade I Amateurs, again with standards exceeding those normally played at the time. Amateur standards have increased dramatically during the intervening years and the requirements are as delineated on the amateur entry form. This competition is now open to all Grade I Amateur players.

In order to fulfill it's mission and, with the co-operation of selected Scottish Games and Competitive venues, the USPF has set up 'Regions' throughout the country. When their finances permit, these Regions undertake the travel expenses of their respective winners to the Championships held at Newark, Delaware. The USPF is much indebted to all these organizations for their enthusiasm and dedication in supporting and furthering the art of piping.

In 2014, the competitions were renamed the Maclean Macleod Memorial Piping Championships in honor of our founder and guiding force, who died in September, 2013.

The USPF looks forward to the future when we can truly encompass all of the United States.
