USPF Amateur Championships - June 21st, 2008

8:00am     Tuning Rooms will open.
9:00am     Amateur Piobaireachd will commence in Lecture Hall 207.
2:00pm     Amateur MSBR will commence after lunch break.
               
You will receive your order of play, one to two weeks prior to the competition date of June 21st, 2008. In order that this may be accomplished in a timely manner the entry deadline for all competitions is MAY 10th, 2008.

The Amateur Competitions are restricted to Grade I competitors. Each contestant will submit four (4) Piobaireachd selections from the current published list of eight (8) offered for the Silver Medal competitions at Inverness and Oban, Scotland.

Competitors will submit two tunes from Group 1 and two tunes from Group 2. They will be required to play one tune.

The March, Strathspey and Reel Competition requires each contestant to submit four marches, four strathspey and four reels. The judges' selections will be sent out 10-14 days prior to the competition.

The competitor with the highest point accumulation from the Piobaireachd and MS&R competitions will receive round trip airfare to Scotland and two weeks tuition at an approved venue in Scotland. The overall winner also receives the USPF Silver Buckle. Scholarships will be awarded to approved Piping Schools for overall placements in the following amounts:- 2nd Place - $700; 3rd Place - $600; 4th Place - $500; 5th Place - $400;
